THE mcf

Funded entirely by Freemasons, The Masonic Charitable Foundation builds better lives by encouraging opportunity, promoting independence and improving wellbeing. Its mission is To be a force for good by providing support, care and services to Freemasons and their families in need, and supporting other charities to help the most disadvantaged in society. the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country ~ second only to the national lottery.

We’re here to help the province of bedfordshire pledge its aid to the Masonic Charitable Foundation & help it to make a bigger impact in 2026. Weather it’s Freemasons or their families, bush fires in Australia, a hurricane in the Bahamas, victims of the Ukrainian war, Floods in Bangladesh or Diabetes UK… we want to keep on helping however we can.

A Team From Someries Prepair for a charity Expedition

90 Miles in 4 Days ~ Hadrians wall

failure is not an option

£3000 target - date set for 08-14/06/2023

From the two that brought you the three peaks challenge for the 2015
festival, John and Tom are at it again. We’re here to help the Masonic
Charitable Foundation make a bigger impact in 2026. Weather it’s bush fires in Australia, a hurricane in the Bahamas, victims of the Ukrainian war, Floods in Bangladesh or Diabetes UK… we want to keep on helping however we can. This time we’re walking coast to coast clear across England, fittingly along the path of Britain’s largest example of stone masonry – the historic Hadrians Wall.

We’ve chosen to do this challenge the hard way by never leaving The Wall till the job is done and camping out on the route as we go – no hotels, no guest houses, come rain or shine. The trail is 84 miles and were extending that total to atruely daunting 90 miles. The guide says
the average person needs between 6 and 7 days for the basic walk. Probably more for the average Mason! To set a real challenge we’re going for the hard charge and aim to traverse the whole span in just 4 days.

We will be supported day to day (and fed) by members of our own Someries Lodge #5202 – Rich and Dom with family setting up camp along the way – making a real team effort by the lodge.

If you feel this epic challenge is a worthy effort, please sponsor us to show your support and put a spring in what is sure to be a weary step come the end of the trail.

We are acutely aware times are hard for everyone and things are tight – but that’s precisely why giving whatever you can, as generously as you can is so important right now. This is the time where we simply must help as much as possible.

Thank you for reading – and your kind support. Absolutely all monies raised by this event will go to very good causes.

John, Tom, Rich and Dom.

Freemasonry’s response to COVID-19 pandemic

‘Freemasons’ COVID-19 Community Fund’

ongoing

Charity Stewards report

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to challenge all of us in our everydaylives, the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) is working in partnership with the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) to help Freemasonry respond to this national crisis. The MCF has allocated £2.75m to support Freemasonry’s charitable response to COVID-19. This money is already being used to fund local projects across the country identified by UGLE’s ten Regional Communication Groups. Projects supported include the provision of Personal Protective Equipment to NHS and care workers; funding meals prepared at masonic halls for isolated and vulnerable people; and supporting the recruitment of volunteers for local Age UK branches and other services.
To raise additional funds in support of the longer-term relief effort, the MCF has also established the Freemasons’ COVID-19 Community Fund – a special appeal dedicated to raising money for charities and projects that are helping people through
the current coronavirus pandemic
.
The Freemasons’ COVID-19 Community Fund is administered through our well-established Relief Chest Scheme and the MCF will match donations received up to £1 million. All funds raised will be distributed either to a registered charity or to any other
COVID-19 related activity, as agreed by the COVID-19 Regional Communication Groups (RCG). Freemasons and their families can help by donating online, via SMS (by texting ‘COVID19’ to 70500 to donate £5) or by starting a fundraising campaign. To make a donation or access the donation guide, please visit mcf.org.uk/covid19fund
